Costco is lowering prices on many popular products from their Kirkland brand, which is good news for shoppers.
Many people visit Costco to take advantage of monthly discounts or save money on gas. But for some shoppers, Costco is a regular destination where they consistently buy their favorite products.
Lots of Costco shoppers now know about hidden price codes in the store. These codes can tell you if an item’s price is likely to go down in the next few weeks.
Don’t worry if you haven’t heard about these changes – Costco usually gives customers advance notice of price adjustments, particularly for big changes affecting many products. We’ve seen this recently with several popular Kirkland Signature items.
Costco cutting prices of popular Kirkland Signature items
In late May, Costco revealed price cuts on several popular Kirkland Signature items, including crispy wings, milk chocolate almonds, golf balls, and king-size sheets.
Prices are changing by as little as $1 for items like Milk Chocolate Almonds, and as much as $10 for king-size sheets.
Our Crispy Wings are now on sale for $14.99, down from $16.99! You can also get a box of Kirkland Signature golf balls for just $29.99 – a price reduction from $32.99.
- Kirkland Signature Crispy Wings, reduced from $16.99 to $14.99
- Kirkland Signature Milk Chocolate Almonds, reduced from $19.99 to $18.99
- Kirkland Signature golf balls, reduced from $32.99 to $29.99
- Kirkland Signature king-size sheets, reduced from $89.99 to $79.99
Costco aims to be the first retailer to cut prices whenever possible, according to CFO Gary Millerchip.
I was really surprised the CFO didn’t tell us why those specific four products were chosen for cuts – it felt like they just picked them at random, and I wish we had more of an explanation.
Customers were especially unhappy with the price of Almonds, with many saying they didn’t get enough value for their money and complaining about it online.
Costco has been making some changes recently. They’re now planning to build large, separate gas stations that won’t be located next to their stores.
The popular retailer is now experimenting with changes to its food court offerings, including testing chicken tenders in the Chicago area.
