Cops recive award after rescuing dog and arresting Twitch streamer for cruelty to animals

I was really glad to hear that the Brookhaven Police Department is getting recognition from PETA! They did the right thing by arresting AspenKartier after those awful videos of her seemingly mistreating her puppy started circulating. It’s good to see animal abuse taken seriously.

In late January, videos of Aspen Easterling, known as AspenKartier on Twitch, interacting with her Maltipoo dog began circulating and caused concern.

Although the dog isn’t visible in the video, the audio captures AspenKartier asking, “How did you get out the cage?” and then sounds like they’re picking it up.

Seconds later, repeated yelps are heard as the streamer appears to hit the animal three times.

After clips of Easterling’s actions circulated on social media, Twitch banned him. The videos were also reported to authorities, prompting a police investigation in Georgia.

Twitch streamer charged with cruelty to animals

CBS News reports that on January 30th, police searched Easterling’s home after receiving evidence from PETA and obtaining a warrant.

The 19-year-old rapper, popular on social media with 70,000 Twitch followers and over 100,000 YouTube subscribers, was arrested and faces charges of animal cruelty.

Good news! That little 3-month-old puppy is finally safe. The authorities took him out of the house he was in and now he’s being looked after by the DeKalb County Animal Services. I’m so glad they rescued him!

Jail records show the streamer was bonded out of jail and released the following day.

PETA is sending the police a Compassionate Police Department Award to thank them for acting professionally and quickly, according to the organization.

Honestly, it really freaks me out that someone would even think it’s okay to pretend to hurt an animal, even for views on a livestream. Like, if they’re willing to do something that awful on camera, who knows what they’re capable of when no one’s watching? It’s seriously disturbing, and PETA’s right to point that out.

PETA thanks the Brookhaven Police Department for upholding the law against animal cruelty. They encourage anyone who witnesses or suspects abuse to speak up, as reporting it can be life-saving for an animal in need.

Along with the framed certificate, the organization is also sending officers vegan chocolates.

This isn’t the first incident of a streamer facing legal trouble for suspected animal abuse during a livestream. Last year, Lionel Howse, a streamer known as ‘lildealy’ on Canadia Kick, was arrested when he returned to the country following significant online criticism regarding how he treated his dog on his broadcasts.
