It’s still unclear whether recent changes to the show Tracker will help it regain its popularity. Tracker used to be the most-watched scripted drama on network television, but it’s now been surpassed by Marshals, a new spinoff of Yellowstone starring Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton. Marshals is currently the most-watched show on TV, providing strong competition for Tracker.
Colter Shaw Historically Investigates A Murder Case In Tracker Season 3, Episode 17
In “Daughters,” Colter receives a call from Randy about a horrific murder in Hamilton, Montana – a whole family, including their teenage daughter, was killed. This makes Shaw wonder what his role could be, as he doesn’t usually handle murder cases. But when Randy adds that the daughter’s friend, Tori Camp (played by Kayla DiVenere), is also missing, Shaw decides to get involved.
I’ve been watching Tracker, and it’s clear Colter’s seen some truly dark things. Since the very beginning, he’s dealt with a lot of murders. I remember being shocked when he stumbled upon a place where bodies were being dumped in Season 2, and later, working with Keaton in Season 3, the cases just kept getting heavier. Even helping Eurydice, you could see the toll it was taking on him. He really carries the weight of these investigations.
Colter hadn’t been involved in a murder investigation before. When Shaw shows up, the FBI is already there, making it clear they’re handling things. But Colter soon meets FBI Agent Beth Temple, who’s willing to team up with him. This unexpected partnership forces Shaw to adapt as they work together to solve the case.
As a long-time fan of crime dramas, I found the introduction of Temple, an FBI Behavior Analysis Unit specialist – you might recognize the BAU from other shows – really added to the dynamic. Her expertise perfectly balanced Colter’s strengths, and together they managed to catch the killer and rescue Tori. But honestly, what really struck me about this episode, ‘Daughters,’ was how the story evolved. Seeing Colter confront a truly cunning serial killer changed the whole feel of Tracker, giving it a surprisingly emotional weight. It wasn’t just about the hunt anymore; it was about the psychological toll on everyone involved.
What Colter’s First Murder Case Means For Tracker Season 4
The show is increasingly focusing on thrilling crime cases rather than simply Colter’s survival skills. This change makes it more like typical modern crime dramas, but it also moves away from what originally made the series unique.
The cases Colter Shaw investigates have become increasingly dangerous. The TV series Tracker, which is based on Jeffrey Deaver’s Colter Shaw novels—particularly The Never Game—reveals that Colter’s father, Ashton Shaw, was apparently killed by his brother, Russell (played by Jensen Ackles). The show began with less intense missing person cases to build up to the central mystery.
As Colter became closer to his brother, he finally figured out the truth behind the initial mystery. Although he’s still looking into what caused his father’s downfall, the show Tracker has mostly moved on from that original storyline. Since then, it’s focused on more and more challenging cases and has spent more time developing the characters around the main protagonist.
I’m really intrigued by Season 3 of Tracker. It feels like the show is taking some exciting risks with deeper character stories and really gripping crimes. It’s definitely different from what we’ve seen before, and while some might miss the older style, I think it’s a bold move. It’s great to hear Marshals is coming back too! Honestly, this new direction for Tracker could either make it even better or unfortunately detract from what I already enjoy, but I’m hopeful it will be a success.
