Netflix’s fantasy series, Shadow and Bone, was based on the books by Leigh Bardugo. The show also starred Freddy Carter, Amita Suman, and Kit Young. Though Shadow and Bone ran for two seasons, in 2021 and 2023, before being canceled, one of its actors is now the lead in a different series.
Though Quentin Tarantino’s previous criticism didn’t directly lead to Lillard being cast, it did bring his talent to the attention of other directors. It’s a case of negative attention actually boosting his career – similar to the ‘Barbara Streisand effect,’ where trying to suppress information only draws more attention to it. George Clooney even offered to work with Lillard, so if James Gunn needs another actor, he should consider Clooney’s offer.
