Scarpetta Season 2 Adds 9 To Cast

Scarpetta is introducing a host of intriguing new characters for the second season of the Prime Video crime thriller.

The TV series Scarpetta is based on the popular novels by Patricia Cornwell and was developed by Liz Sarnoff. Nicole Kidman stars as Dr. Kay Scarpetta, a forensic pathologist who uses cutting-edge technology to investigate challenging cases. The show also features Bobby Cannavale as Detective Pete Marino, Jamie Lee Curtis as Dorothy Farinelli, Ariana DeBose as Lucy Farinelli Watson, and Simon Baker as Benton Wesley. Rosy McEwen, Amanda Righetti, Jake Cannavale, and Hunter Parrish portray younger versions of Kidman, Curtis, Cannavale, and Baker, respectively.

According to an article in Deadline, the production of Scarpetta, which started filming in Nashville in March 2026, has added nine new actors to the cast. These include David Arquette, Jodi Balfour, William Zabka, Stella Baker, Kim Dickens, Troy Garity, Jerod Haynes, Killer Mike, and Holland Taylor.

Several of the new cast members are already well-known faces. Arquette recently finished filming Evil Genius and The Mess We Made. Balfour has appeared in popular shows like For All Mankind, Ted Lasso, and The Crown. And Zabka is famous for playing Johnny Lawrence in The Karate Kid movies and the series Cobra Kai.

Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis not only star in the series but also serve as executive producers, along with Lisa Cornwell and Oren Sarnoff. All four will return for the second season of Scarpetta. The show is a production of Amazon MGM Studios and Blumhouse Television, in association with Blossom Films, Comet Pictures, and P&S Projects. Scarpetta premiered on Prime Video on March 11, 2026.

The TV show is based on the book series Kay Scarpetta, which has eight novels. These books were published between 1990 and 2023 and include titles like Postmortem (1990), All That Remains (1992), Cruel & Unusual (1993), The Body Farm (1994), From Potter’s Field (1995), Cause of Death (1996), The Last Precinct (2000), and Blow Fly (2003).

The main character in the novel is based on Dr. Marcella Farinelli Fierro, a real-life medical examiner and forensic pathologist. She led Virginia’s medical examiner’s office from 1994 until her retirement in 2008. Dr. Fierro was a pioneer in her field, being one of the first nine women to become certified in forensic pathology by the American Board of Pathology. Even after retiring, she remained active in the field by teaching and mentoring others. She earned her medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo after studying biology at D’Youville College.

As of today, we don’t know when season 2 of Scarpetta will be released. However, many believe it could arrive in 2027.
