The upcoming movie, Avengers: Doomsday, will include different versions of the Avengers team. We now know who will be joining Captain America on this new team, though there might be a surprise. In Captain America: Brave New World, the first Marvel movie of 2025, Sam Wilson was tasked by Harrison Ford’s Thunderbolt Ross with rebuilding the Avengers.

At the film’s conclusion, Sam chooses to take on the role, but will do things his way. So far, he’s only enlisted his friend, Joaquin Torres—the new Falcon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe—to join his Avengers team. For a long time, the rest of the team remained a secret, especially with little news about the next big threat. But that might be changing now.

Captain America’s New Avengers Team Has Seemingly Been Revealed

During a Disney event in Italy, details about the new Avengers team led by Sam Wilson (Captain America and Falcon) were revealed. Disney announced that Thor, Loki, Shang-Chi, and Ant-Man will join Sam’s team in the upcoming movie, Avengers: Doomsday. This lineup is unexpected, as it features no female heroes and a mix of characters with varying levels of power.

Of the four characters revealed so far, Thor is the only original Avenger confirmed to be in Avengers: Doomsday. Ant-Man played a key role in saving the universe in Avengers: Endgame, Shang-Chi fits well as one of the Multiverse Saga’s strongest new heroes, and Loki’s appearance is surprising given his role as a protector of the multiverse.

Why Captain America’s Avengers Team Might Not Be Fully Accurate

During the Disney presentation, the heroes shown were called “The Heroic Avengers,” and no other characters for Avengers: Doomsday were mentioned. However, this information might not be complete. All the other groups previewed – the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, the Thunderbolts, and the Wakandans – were presented as distinct teams, suggesting they aren’t simply part of a larger “Heroic Avengers” group.

Each of those groups is unique and doesn’t include any of the characters we typically consider Avengers. Therefore, it might have been better to present the remaining heroes as a single ‘Avengers’ group, rather than excluding a few, like Loki, whose connection to the team isn’t as obvious.

Characters like Shuri, who is now the Black Panther in the MCU, could also be part of the new Avengers team, even though she wasn’t initially included with the announced members. It’s important to remember that Marvel has only revealed a portion of the cast for Avengers: Doomsday. This means Captain America’s team could get even bigger once the remaining characters are revealed. While the Avengers: Doomsday update is exciting, it doesn’t give us the complete picture.
