I just saw this and I can’t believe it! Apparently, a bride is asking guests to pay $250 to attend her wedding – and on top of that, they have to sleep on air mattresses! People online are really upset about it, and honestly, I can see why. It feels a little much to ask guests to cover their own accommodation, especially when it’s not exactly luxurious!
Attending a wedding usually means covering your own travel costs and lodging. This is especially true now that many couples are choosing to have weddings in far-off locations. And some are even adding unexpected entertainment, like surprise wrestling matches, for their guests!
To save money, some wedding guests share accommodations like hotels or Airbnbs. But one guest was told they would be staying with the couple and their families, which was a surprise.
Although it initially seemed like good news, the excitement quickly faded when guests learned they’d have to pay $250 to attend the wedding, and even then, a private room wasn’t guaranteed.
Wedding guests asked to pay $250 to attend
The bride’s maid of honor, littlemamabel, shared the invitation on Reddit, explaining that the $250 fee covers the full cost for each guest to attend the wedding.
According to a Reddit post, the wedding will take place on a Monday, with guests asked to arrive on Sunday and depart by Wednesday. A flat fee of $250 covers accommodation, all meals, and drinks for the duration of the stay, no matter how long someone stays. The Airbnb rental is also being used as the wedding venue and reception space.
The couple has asked for contributions towards their honeymoon instead of traditional gifts. I know both of them, as well as the bride’s parents. My partner and I would be staying in a room with other guests and would have to sleep on an air mattress.

The $250 fee to attend the wedding, which is being used as a way to confirm attendance, has sparked a lot of discussion online, with many people calling it an unreasonable request.
People are objecting to a $250 price for an air mattress in a shared room, saying they would choose to stay elsewhere. One person stated they wouldn’t go if the host wasn’t happy with that decision, and another firmly said the price was unacceptable for that length of stay.
One person said they wouldn’t attend any of it, and would only send a gift if it was a close friend. Another commenter simply stated that the entire situation felt deeply disrespectful.
