A disagreement over a Beyblade toy in Taiwan has turned into a lawsuit. The buyer claims the seller falsely advertised the toy, stating it weighed 60 milligrams less than advertised.
So, I heard from FTV News in Taiwan that this whole thing started because someone bought a Beyblade top from a Facebook group – just a regular online trade, you know?
The seller stated the Beyblade weighed 37.95 grams, but the buyer found it actually weighed 37.89 grams upon receiving and weighing it.
The buyer requested a refund because the product wasn’t as described, but the seller denied the request. The seller explained that slight variations in weight, measured by different scales, could account for the discrepancy.
Man, this whole thing just blew up. It started as a disagreement with another gamer, but now we’re actually in court waiting for the judge to decide who’s right. It’s gotten totally out of hand!
Beyblade fans end up in court
Beyblade is a game where players launch spinning tops into a stadium and try to defeat their opponent by knocking their top out of the arena or being the last one spinning. To win, players often focus on details like a top’s weight, balance, and how fast it spins.
The core of this disagreement is incredibly minor. FTV pointed out that the difference in weight – just 0.06 grams – is about the same as five small staples, showing how insignificant the issue really is that led to this case.
This whole thing has blown up online, and honestly, it’s wild to me that something as simple as a slightly heavier toy could end up in a lawsuit. I never expected a little weight difference to cause such a big problem!
One fan jokingly lamented the constant worrying about product weight, saying they’d simply check their own unit and accept any slight differences without dwelling on it.
One person commented that Beyblade is a sport and, as someone who trains Beyblades, complaining about something as small as 0.06 grams seems unreasonable.
Beyblade has gained attention online multiple times this year. Back in February, a tournament in Michigan surprised everyone with its grand prize: a brand new Honda Civic!
