The upcoming Battlefield battle royale game is now officially confirmed! It’s called Battlefield: RedSec and will be available starting October 28th at 8 AM Pacific Time / 11 AM Eastern Time. As many expected, the game will be free to play.
Battlefield Studios previously confirmed they were working on a battle royale experience for Battlefield 6 and have had people testing it. Now, they’re officially announcing the name, release date, and how players will pay – details that had already surfaced online.
The name RedSec appears to be a shorter version of “Redacted Sector,” based on the teaser art.

Battlefield fans have a lot to look forward to this week, with the launch of RedSec coinciding with the first season update for Battlefield 6. The wider first-person shooter scene is also heating up, as Arc Raiders releases on October 30th and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is scheduled for November.
Battlefield 6 had a very successful launch earlier this month, selling 7 million copies and achieving the biggest opening weekend in the history of the Battlefield franchise.
RedSec is entering a battle royale gaming market that’s already full of popular titles. Games like PUBG, Fortnite, Call of Duty: Warzone, and Apex Legends are currently the most well-known and successful in the genre.
