Marvel Studios just dropped its third trailer online, offering fans the clearest view yet of three beloved X-Men actors from the old Fox movies. It initially appeared Marvel was bidding farewell to these actors with the post-credits scene in Deadpool & Wolverine, but the Russo brothers had different plans. Now, these original X-Men stars will get one last moment in the spotlight before a new team is introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
A new, brief preview for the next Avengers film continues the trend of one-minute trailers, previously showcasing Chris Evans reprising his role as Captain America and Chris Hemsworth as Thor. This latest clip is set within the remnants of the X-Men’s mansion and offers fans their first glimpse of Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and James Marsden returning as Professor X, Magneto, and Cyclops, respectively.
The trailer begins inside the X-Men Mansion, with a somber look at the building’s interior. We then see Charles Xavier’s wheelchair, and Xavier himself. A scene follows showing Xavier using his powers to levitate a chess king. Erik and Charles are then shown holding hands while considering the concept of death, sharing a smile before the scene cuts. We then see Cyclops taking off his visor and yelling as everything around him appears to be ablaze with energy, with a massive Celestial figure walking in the background.
Okay, so the trailer doesn’t show them, but get this – Alan Cumming and Kelsey Grammer are also coming back! What their roles will be is anyone’s guess right now, it’s all just exciting speculation. But here’s a theory: could this movie be the event Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine is vaguely remembering? You know, the one he hints at but doesn’t fully explain? It would make sense, and honestly, it fuels the fire around those rumors that Jackman will keep going as Wolverine in the MCU, while sadly, this might be the last we see of these X-Men characters.
The Next ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Trailer Will Release on January 8

Rumors suggest Marvel Studios might release several short previews before the full trailer for Avengers: Doomsday appears during the Super Bowl in February. Considering the success Spider-Man: No Way Home and Deadpool & Wolverine had with their record-breaking Super Bowl trailers, it’s unlikely Kevin Feige would miss the chance to promote a new film at the event. Could we see two Marvel trailers in a little over a month? With Spider-Man: Brand New Day scheduled for summer and no footage released yet, the Super Bowl might be the perfect time for Peter Parker to make a big splash again.
