Fans can now stream one of the greatest superhero TV shows ever made – for free! After six years, it’s finally available on a new streaming service.
Starting May 1st, you can watch all eight seasons of Arrow for free on Pluto TV – no subscription needed! Pluto TV is now the only place to stream the show after it left Netflix last year. While Arrow is moving, other shows from the Arrowverse like The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow are still available on Netflix.
Arrow Changed Superhero Television Forever
After five years in exile, he returns home determined to clean up crime in his city. By night, he becomes a masked vigilante known first as the Arrow, and later as the Green Arrow, fighting against corrupt officials, dangerous supervillains, and skilled assassins to safeguard the citizens of Starling City.
Arrow aired for eight seasons, ending with a shortened final season in 2020. While it wasn’t perfect, the show was mostly praised by critics and has an 86% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Though it seemed like a typical superhero show at first, Arrow actually became incredibly important. Premiering in 2012, it started a huge television franchise—the largest DC has ever created—which included shows like The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman, Black Lightning, and Superman and Lois. Even as DC was making movies, the Arrowverse consistently proved to be more successful and popular.
The Arrowverse concluded with the final episode of Superman and Lois in 2024. Despite its end, the series is celebrated for its impressive twelve-year run, having featured a wider range of DC characters than the DC Extended Universe did over more than ten years.
The Arrowverse Is Still the Gold Standard for DC
I don’t think DC has ever created anything quite like the Arrowverse. It was such a strong, connected world of live-action shows, and honestly, nothing since has come close. The DCEU had its moments with some of the characters, but it just didn’t stick the landing, especially with those disappointing box office results. That’s why I’m so excited to see what the DCU brings to the table now!
Even though the Arrowverse TV shows are over, people are still talking about how the new DC Universe (DCU) stacks up against it. Some fans would love to see actors from the Arrowverse play those same superhero characters in the DCU. As James Gunn builds his DCU, it’s likely we’ll see even more comparisons to the Arrowverse than to the previous DC movie universe (DCEU).
Arrow will be available to stream on Pluto TV beginning May 1.
