Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury will be cancelled unless Dua Lipa performs: Report

The boxing match everyone’s been waiting for between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury could fall through if Dua Lipa doesn’t agree to sing at it.

Both British heavyweight boxers are very well-known, making a fight between them incredibly valuable from a business perspective.

Even that isn’t enough for Saudi boxing promoter Turki Alalshikh, who still has one major requirement before he’ll approve the fight.

Joshua is returning to the ring on July 25th with a fight against Kristian Penga. Following that, promoter Eddie Hearn has confirmed that Joshua will then fight Fury.

Hearn posted: “Signed, sealed and delivered! AJ vs Fury is on!”

He described the deal as the largest and most desired in the company’s history, and predicted a major year for AJ, signaling a strong return to form.

Turki Alalshikh demands Dua Lipa performance at Joshua vs Fury fight

The boxing match, often called the “Battle of Britain,” won’t happen unless Dua Lipa attends, as requested by Alalshikh.

So, I’m reading that this big fight is happening in November, and apparently, a Saudi prince really wants Dua Lipa to perform! It sounds like whether the fight actually happens, and where it’ll be, kinda depends on if she’s on board. Pretty wild, right? It’s like her performance is a key piece of the puzzle.

Previously, Turki Alalshikh brought Liam Gallagher of Oasis to perform at a boxing match featuring Joshua versus Dubois in 2024.

Dua Lipa is planning to marry actor Callum Turner in September. Given her demanding music career and frequent travel, it’s unclear if she’ll have time to perform around her wedding.

Dua Lipa has talked about her love for boxing before. In a 2018 interview with Most Requested Live with Romeo, she explained that she boxes for fitness and as a way to relax and clear her head, and she also enjoys watching the sport.

Fury and Joshua have a long-standing rivalry. They recently exchanged heated words after Fury won his fight against Arslanbek Makhmudo. This potential matchup has been discussed for years, but previous attempts to schedule the fight have fallen through.
