Yet another game previously available only on Xbox is now coming to PlayStation 5, giving players another reason to choose Sony’s console over Microsoft’s.
Starting in 2025, Microsoft started letting some of its popular game franchises appear on PlayStation consoles. However, this doesn’t apply to all of their games – titles from Activision Blizzard are already available on multiple platforms. Fans were particularly concerned about whether games like Forza Horizon and Halo would remain exclusive to Xbox.
Avowed, originally an Xbox exclusive, is coming to PlayStation 5, as announced at the New Game+ Showcase. The PS5 version will be released at the same time as a significant update for the game on other platforms.
Avowed Is Coming To PlayStation 5 On February 17
The action RPG Avowed will arrive on PlayStation 5 on February 17, 2026, a little over a year after its release on Xbox and PC. You can pre-order the game now! The PS5 launch will also include a major update called the Anniversary Update, which adds a Photo Mode and a New Game + mode. New Game + lets players who have completed the game start a new playthrough with all their powerful equipment, but also features tougher enemies.
The Anniversary Update introduces three new playable races – Dwarves, Orlan, and Aumaua – to the game. Players can also now wield a quarterstaff, a new weapon particularly useful for spellcasting classes who want a magical, wizard-like feel.

Despite being a fantastic game, Avowed didn’t get the attention it deserved in 2025, as it came out alongside several other hugely popular RPGs. Hopefully, more players will discover its unique and magical world of Eora and enjoy its adventures.
