Navigating the world of REPLACED as Warren Marsh around Phoenix-City is incredibly challenging, filled with tough enemies and dangerous traps. While having powerful weapons is key, staying alive is just as important. Luckily, the game offers plenty of upgrades to give you a fighting chance.

You can find upgrades that boost your health and the effectiveness of Med-Stims, helping you survive tough fights in REPLACED. Collecting all of these upgrades also unlocks an achievement, so here’s a guide to their locations.

How Do Health and Med-Stim Upgrades Work in REPLACED?

Increasing your health gives you lasting improvements to your health bar, shown as red hearts at the top-left of your screen. Each upgrade typically adds half a heart, and these are called ‘Genetic Profiles’ in the game.

Med-Stim upgrades make your health recovery items, used during battles, work even better. They can both boost how much health each item restores and let you carry and use more of them during a fight. You might see these upgrades listed in the game as ‘Immune Modulator’ or ‘Rechargeable Ampoule’.

In REPLACED, upgrading your health and stamina is crucial for surviving tough fights. While failing platforming sections usually means instant death and restarting from a checkpoint, stronger health and endurance become essential as the combat gets harder. Essentially, maximizing these stats will greatly improve your chances of success in battles.

Getting all the Health and Med-Stim upgrades will earn you the ‘My Body Is a Machine’ achievement.

Here’s a complete guide to all the Health and Med-Stim upgrades in REPLACED, detailing how and where to find them in each chapter.

Chapter 1

Health Upgrade 1 – Outside of Diner

  • Genetic Profile – Health increased

Okay, so as a tip for anyone playing, I found the first health upgrade pretty easily! It’s right outside that abandoned diner – you know, the one with the big sign – during the part where you’re trying to be sneaky with the Termites. Just look around right as you approach the diner, it’s lying on the ground.

Chapter 2

Med-Stim Upgrade – Doctor Quest Reward

  • Rechargeable Ampoule 1 – Med-Stims amount increased

You’ll receive this upgrade for finishing the Doctor’s sidequest in this chapter.

Med-Stim Upgrade – Donor Rush Arcade Game Reward

  • Immune Modulator – Now Med-Stims are used much faster

You’ll get this upgrade as a prize for getting a higher score than Susan in the fixed-up Donor Rush arcade game.

Health Upgrade – My Only Sunshine Quest Reward

  • Genetic Profile 2 – Health increased

This upgrade is provided as a reward for completing David’s side quest to fix his telescope.

Chapter 3

Health Upgrade – Subway Station Office

  • Genetic Profile 4 – Health increased

You’ll find this upgrade in a secret office hidden within the subway area of Chapter 3. After you get and use the Pickaxe for the first time, continue running right on the raised platform until you reach the end. Don’t go forward—instead, look for a prompt to turn around and run towards the open doorway in the background. Once inside, head left until you reach the back of the room to collect the upgrade.

Health Upgrade – Subway Platform Room

  • Genetic Profile 3 – Health increased

You’ll find this upgrade deeper within the subway area, past the tricky climbing section before the ‘Prospero Facility’ platform. Continue running to the right until you discover an open doorway leading to a secret room. Proceed further to the right until a ‘Scan’ prompt appears – select it to obtain the upgrade.

Chapter 4

Health Upgrade – Old Man Quest Reward

  • Genetic Profile 5 – Health increased

Med-Stim Upgrade – Edward Quest Reward

  • Rechargeable Ampoule 2 – Med-Stims amount increased

You’ll receive this upgrade after finishing Edward’s side quest. To start the quest, find the graffiti on the west side of Western Station and examine it – that will unlock the upgrade.

Chapter 5

Health Upgrade – Lower Level of Subway Station

  • Genetic Profile 6 – Health increased

This upgrade is found on the ground beneath an elevated platform with an abandoned train car.

Chapter 6

Health Upgrade – Vent Beneath Server Room

  • Genetic Profile 7 – Health increased

You’ll find this upgrade in the large server room. Go to the right side of the room until you see an opening in one of the server stacks. Drop down through that opening to the floor below, then crawl to the left through the small vent until you reach the upgrade and can scan it.

Chapter 7

Health Upgrade – Sandra Side Quest Reward

  • Genetic Profile 9 – Health increased

You’ll receive this upgrade as a reward for finishing Sandra’s side quest. You can start the quest at Western Station. Once you find Sandra and her brothers, the upgrade will become available.

Med-Stim Upgrade – Arcade Game Reward

  • Adrenaline Injector – Restores a small amount of health after a fatal blow. Can be triggered once per combat.

You’ll get this upgrade and unlock the Old School achievement by getting the highest score on all three arcade games at the Western Station arcade.

Chapter 8

Med-Stim Upgrade – Steam Vent Room Beneath City Streets

  • Rechargeable Ampoule 3 – Med-Stims amount increased

You can find this upgrade hidden in a small vent inside the ‘DEP 311’ room – it’s clearly labeled on the wall below the city streets. You’ll access this area while attempting to hack the Phoenix Saving and Loans system for the final sanitation worker. To reach the vent, push the steam cart as far to the right as it will go, then use your double jump to get inside.

Chapter 9

Health Upgrade – Tower Atrium Climbing Section

  • Genetic Profile 10 – Health increased

Once you’ve beaten the enemies in the main hall of the Phoenix Lab tower, you’ll need to head up to the next area. The upgrade is on the left balcony of the fourth floor – you’ll find it along with the ‘Exquisite Menu’ collectible.
