Airport evacuated after laser hair removal device mistaken for dangerous luggage

An Australian airport had to be partially evacuated when a suspicious object was found during security checks. It turned out to be a laser hair removal device that had been packed with a container of hot chocolate.

Flights at Avalon Airport were briefly delayed when police and specialized teams examined a suspicious piece of luggage.

Security response triggered by unusual luggage contents

Airport workers spotted something suspicious while checking baggage, according to The Guardian. As a safety measure, passengers were temporarily moved from parts of the terminal.

Investigators discovered the bag held a laser hair removal machine and a container of hot chocolate.

Police determined the item wasn’t a threat. The person who owned the bag was questioned but wasn’t arrested or charged with any crime.

News reports showed airport robots being sent into the terminals to remove an item, which turned out to be something ordinary.

It seems strange things often happen at airports. Just recently, in February, passengers were stuck on a plane overnight when their flight was cancelled. And earlier this month, Japan announced exciting plans to open an airport completely themed around Pokemon, including special Pokemon-themed food!
