D4 Enterprise is slowly making the Nintendo Switch version of Advanced Lord Monarch available now. You can find it on Nintendo eShops around the world, including the US store, for $7.16.
Okay, so I recently learned the history of this game called Lord Monarch. Basically, there was the original, which came out in March 1991, and then an upgraded version called Advanced Lord Monarch in October of the same year – both on PC-9801. It’s actually the seventh game in the Dragon Slayer series, but it’s a bit different because it’s a real-time strategy game instead of a typical RPG. And if you’re a Switch owner, you might know it – D4 Enterprise put out a port of the original Lord Monarch last September!
Below, you’ll find the official trailer, a description, and screenshots for Advanced Lord Monarch.
Grow your territory, construct buildings, combine forces, and strengthen your nation to take over enemy castles in this acclaimed real-time strategy game from Falcom. Featuring 52 unique levels and engaging gameplay focused on controlling territory, this conquest simulation provides a new challenge with every playthrough.
Originally released in 1991 as part of the Dragon Slayer series, this game is an improved version of the real-time strategy game, Lord Monarch.
Players take on the role of a king, tasked with building a nation and conquering opponents. You’ll manage resources, direct your people to farm, construct buildings and defenses, and combine units to create strong armies. Levels are completed by capturing enemy castles, and a scoring system encourages replayability as you strive for a higher “Occupation Rate”.
The game offers two modes: Normal and Advanced. Advanced Mode significantly deepens the strategy, allowing for tactics like dodging stronger enemies and cutting off enemy retreats – features not found in Normal Mode. Your combat effectiveness is also scored, with rankings up to 10th Dan, providing a truly challenging strategic experience.
With 104 stages (52 per mode), the game keeps things interesting by increasing the difficulty and changing the visual style as you progress. Its extensive content and strategic depth make it a standout title for any fan of real-time simulation games.
