I imagine Seven of Nine commanding the USS Enterprise-G. We’re finally getting more information about the new comic book series.
IDW Publishing is starting a new Star Trek comic series in May. The story picks up after previous events and will feature Seven of Nine leading a secret mission aboard the Enterprise. She’ll be venturing into an uncharted area of space—beyond the familiar quadrants of the Star Trek galaxy—to investigate a strange power that could destroy the Federation. Christopher Cantwell is writing the series, with Dennis Menheere providing the artwork and Jodie Troutman handling the lettering.
New Star Trek Series Celebrates Franchise’s 60th Anniversary
The cover art for the first issue of the new Star Trek comic was unveiled, along with information about future plans. A new title, Star Trek: Zero Point, is set to launch in October, written by Charlie Jane Anders. This series will run alongside the current Star Trek comic, and will follow Raffi Muskier, Seven of Nine’s partner, as she leads a new crew aboard a starship. The focus will be on artificial intelligence and proactively identifying potential dangers.
A new Star Trek series will launch in May, featuring Star Trek: Celebrations 2026. This special issue will honor beloved characters and their connections across the entire Star Trek universe, continuing the tradition started with the initial Celebrations one-shot released in 2024.
To celebrate its 60th anniversary, Star Trek will release a special 50-page issue in September, featuring brand new stories from writers like Dana Gould, Ryan North, Derek Charm, David Walker, and Megan Camerena. Plus, a new comic book, Lost Contact, is scheduled for release in April.
Star Trek Creator Discusses Seven of Nine’s New Journey
The creator of the new Star Trek comic recently spoke with io9 about the series’ direction and the upcoming adventures of Seven of Nine. Cantwell explained that after 60 years, Star Trek has always been about looking to the future and embracing the possibilities of space. He believes the show’s enduring appeal comes from its ability to explore complicated ideas with a sense of wonder and awe.
The new Star Trek comic series will delve deeper into the universe, promising a fresh adventure. According to writer Ram V, the goal is to create something entirely new, focused on exploring the unknown with a core group of characters facing unprecedented challenges. While acknowledging the rich history of Star Trek over the past six decades, the series aims to move forward and embrace new possibilities, building on the best aspects of the established lore.
The new ongoing Star Trek series will be released this May from IDW Publishing.
