Okay, let’s be real – when another Sharknado movie surfaces, it’s usually a sign things are…interesting. And according to Variety, The Asylum is at it again! They’re not just making another Sharknado, they’re trying something new – a “legasequel/prequel/reboot” called Sharknado Origins. Honestly, it feels like a good time to check the stock market.
The director of all the previous Sharknado films, Anthony Ferrante, is back for another installment. However, original stars Ian Ziering and Tara Reid won’t be returning. Sharknado Origins will focus on how Fin (Ziering’s character) and April first met as teenagers at the beach, and how their budding romance coincided with the very first sharknado. The movie will explain why they didn’t seem to have any prior sharknado experience in the original Sharknado. Let’s be honest though, if you’re expecting a consistent storyline throughout the Sharknado series, you might want to talk to a therapist. Production is set to begin later this year, with a possible release in the summer of 2026.
