Sony and NCSoft are collaborating on a new Horizon massively multiplayer online game. However, Guerrilla Games, the original developer, is also creating other Horizon experiences focused on machine hunting.
“More on that to come,” the developer said.
Although Guerrilla hasn’t officially revealed any new Horizon games, reports suggest they’re currently working on a multiplayer title. Following the announcement of a Horizon MMO, journalist Jason Schreier confirmed that this multiplayer game is Guerrilla’s primary focus right now.
The Horizon series began in 2017 with the release of Horizon: Zero Dawn. It was later made available on PC in 2020, followed by the sequel, Forbidden West, in 2022. Expanding the Horizon universe, the VR game Horizon: Call of the Mountain launched in 2023, and Lego Horizon Adventures was released in 2024.
A Horizon movie is now in the works and could begin filming in 2026 and release in 2027.
Okay, so there’s some drama happening with Horizon! Apparently, Sony is actually suing Tencent. They’re saying Tencent’s new game, ‘Light of Motiram,’ is basically a straight-up copy of Horizon – like, a really obvious one. Sony’s claiming they’ve ripped off a ton of stuff from our favorite Horizon games. It’s a mess, and I’m kinda curious to see how it plays out.
