According to recent reports, two members of the Guardians team will be important to the stories in both Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars. Their history and past actions are expected to be key to how the larger, multi-universe story unfolds.
Gamora won’t return in Avengers 5 but her presence will be felt
During a November 2025 Q&A for The Cosmic Circus, Alex Perez revealed that Gamora won’t be in either Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars. When discussing the future of the Guardians of the Galaxy, Perez explained that Gamora will be removed from the team, linking her absence to the broader multiverse storyline. While she won’t physically appear, Perez indicated that her story will still be relevant, serving as a case study of how universes are becoming increasingly connected. He clarified that the Gamora seen in Endgame and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 isn’t from the main timeline, which explains her eventual departure.
According to Perez, Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) might still have a small part in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie, though he hasn’t heard much about the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy. He pointed out that Star-Lord was originally planned to have a larger role. Perez didn’t mention any involvement for Rocket, Groot, Nebula, Drax, or Mantis in the new Avengers films.

Apparently, Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter will be in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ – major news outlets have already confirmed it. The person running the Q&A even hinted they might show them off in the trailer to avoid spoiling any other surprises. And the best part? We can expect a teaser trailer sometime in early to mid-December! I’m already counting down the days.
Even though Gamora is no longer present, her story remains important to the overall narrative. Her experiences in both Avengers: Endgame and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 highlight the MCU’s continued focus on alternate realities and the increasingly blurred lines of the multiverse.
Marvel will release Avengers: Doomsday on December 18, 2026, and Secret Wars in 2027.
