Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past”, is set to disrupt the established sci-fi lore once more by gathering numerous characters from various parts of the galaxy and embarking on a thrilling journey that will significantly impact the Star Wars universe.
In this space-bound adventure made of bricks, several beloved Star Wars characters will reappear in the franchise, including some notorious villains from various tales within the Lucas universe. One of these recurring figures is the cunning Darth Maul, who was also present in the initial season of “Rebuild the Galaxy”.
In simpler terms, it was announced that Maul will reappear in the Star Wars universe in the upcoming animated series, as shown in the latest trailer for “Pieces of the Past.” The trailer also revealed a fresh appearance for this much-anticipated character.
In a sneak preview, it was unveiled that Maul will don an attire inspired by Hoth for the episode titled “Pieces of the Past“. This new outfit includes a hooded parka with a fur lining and a cape, as well as cold-weather trousers designed to handle the frozen landscapes of the snowy planet.
As a devoted Star Wars fan, I must say that Maul’s absence from the snowy locales featured in the canonical films is quite unusual, given what we’ve seen so far.
According to the trailer hints, Maul is expected to don a layered attire throughout the entirety of the second season, despite being the only character seemingly prepared for the chill.
Instead of the typical black robes usually associated with him in his Star Wars roles, this depiction presents a fresh, slightly altered appearance.
In the “Rebuild the Galaxy” series, a character with allegiance to the Dark Side, originating from Dathomir, has dressed in attire reminiscent of Lando Calrissian, portrayed by Donald Glover, in “Solo: A Star Wars Story”.
In the movie, Lando dons a striking yellow tunic featuring a big black neckpiece, and he has a black cloak casually thrown across his shoulders. This fashion style was later adopted by Maul, who had seen it during the initial season of the LEGO Star Wars cartoon series.

The title “LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past” tells us about a story where a young force user, Sig Greebling (portrayed by Gaten Matarazzo from Stranger Things), embarks on an epic journey across the galaxy to fix the chaos caused when he inadvertently merged different realities into the main Star Wars timeline.
Beginning this coming Friday, September 19th, you can find “Pieces of the Past” on Disney+. This production features Matarazzo, Tony Revolori, Bobby Moynihan, and several other talented individuals as part of an ensemble made up of various characters from a brick-built world.
How Will Darth Maul Factor Into LEGO Star Wars: Pieces of the Past?
Among numerous iconic Star Wars figures, Darth Maul is among those expected to feature in “LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy: Fragments from the Past.
In the initial season, I found myself captivated by the looming presence of the villain from “The Phantom Menace,” who graced the screen in an impressive three out of the four episodes. Yet, this menacing figure was not the relentless hunter pursuing Sig and his courageous Jedi crew, serving as a secondary antagonist.
Rather than being a main antagonist, he was one of the Dark Side users in the series, often appearing alongside others. The force working against Sig and his companions was Darth Dev, the villainous master, and his numerous apprentices who were bent on defeating Nerd Herder, the brave young protagonist.
In Season 2, it appears that Maul may take on a comparable role. He’s present and he’s definitely wicked, but he won’t be the principal antagonist this time. Instead, that duty will once again fall to Darth Vader and the newly introduced character, Darth Solitus.
Fear not, Maul enthusiasts! The beloved character will continue to shine brightly, taking center stage in a standalone series titled “Maul: Shadow Lord“, set for release next year.
