Rue Valley, a story-rich RPG with a similar visual style to Disco Elysium, is now available on PC, Xbox (all generations), PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch. While sharing some visual similarities and tackling difficult subjects, Rue Valley offers a unique experience through its own distinct story and details.
This game features a man stuck in a time loop with a twist: each loop alters his abilities and identity. As you play, you retain memories and knowledge from previous loops, which unlocks new conversations and possibilities as the story progresses.
So, the coolest thing about this game is how much my character changes with each playthrough. One loop I’m a total lone wolf, super serious and detached, and the next I’m this over-the-top, emotional guy – it’s wild! But even with all that shifting, there’s a main mystery I’m trying to solve, and I’m getting really invested in the stories of the other characters. The developers are actually tackling some pretty deep stuff through their lives and how they react to everything that’s happening.
Rue Valley’s approach to mental health inspired Emotion Spark Studio to partner with Movember, a well-known men’s health charity, to encourage better well-being for players and the wider community.
Marko Smiljanić, creative director at Emotion Spark Studio, explained that their goal was to create a story that was both captivating and emotionally impactful, reflecting everyday challenges. He believes the story will connect with audiences and make them feel understood and valued.
