Reacher’s Alan Ritchson Is Worried About ‘Fight Fatigue’ in Season 4

The popular action series on Prime Video is coming back for a fourth season. Alan Ritchson, who plays Jack Reacher, has hinted that this season will have more fight scenes than ever before, and he’s jokingly concerned that viewers might get tired of seeing so much action.

While promoting his new movie, Playdate, actor Alan Ritchson expressed concern that audiences might become tired of action scenes, especially considering the upcoming season of Reacher. He explained that they filmed around 30 fights for Season 4 – more than ever before – and he worries about overdoing it. He noticed his wife becoming disinterested in Game of Thrones due to the constant fighting, only perking up when the action finally stopped. Ritchson doesn’t want viewers to feel that way with Reacher, and wants the fights to feel impactful, not exhausting.

I was a little worried they might just throw in fights for the sake of it in Season 4 of Reacher, but Alan Ritchson assured me that’s not the case. He explained that every fight has a purpose and connects to what the characters are going through, so you really feel invested in why they’re fighting. Apparently, they’ve actually done more fight scenes this season than ever before, but he promises it all makes sense within the story. He seems really excited about it, and honestly, that makes me even more hyped to watch!

The TV series Reacher is based on the Jack Reacher novels by Lee Child. Tom Cruise previously played the main character in two movies. When plans for a third movie were cancelled, Amazon began developing a series adaptation in 2019. The first season, released in 2022, covered the events of the first book, Killing Floor. Season two, which aired weekly from December 2023 to January 2024, was based on the eleventh novel, Bad Luck and Trouble. The third season, adapting the seventh book, Persuader, aired from February to March 2025.

Which Jack Reacher Novel Is Being Adapted Next?

I’m really excited for the fourth season of Reacher! It’s based on Gone Tomorrow, the thirteenth book in Lee Child’s Jack Reacher series, and the premise is fantastic. Imagine this: it’s 2 AM in New York City, Reacher’s on the subway with five other people, and one of them ends up dead. You know he’s going to get involved. The victim, Susan Mark, was apparently keeping a huge secret, and it turns out a lot of people – in Washington, California, even Afghanistan – were watching her. And here’s the kicker: they’re all lying to Reacher. Just enough to make things incredibly dangerous for him. The story quickly becomes a high-stakes chase through Manhattan, packed with skilled and violent people caught in some kind of shadow war. It’s perfect for Reacher, who prefers to trust no one, and the tagline about finally facing your enemy is just chilling. I can’t wait to see how this plays out!

Filming for Season 4 began in June 2025, and Karl Urban will be joined by several new faces. Sydelle Noel, Agnez Mo, Anggun, and Kevin Corrigan are confirmed as series regulars. Kevin Weisman, Marc Blucas, and Kathleen Robertson will appear in recurring roles. Weisman will play journalist Russell Plum, while Blucas will portray U.S. Congressman John Samson and Robertson his wife, Elsbeth.

I’m totally hooked on Reacher – I’ve already watched all three seasons on Prime Video! We’re all eagerly waiting for news about Season 4, but unfortunately, there’s no official release date yet.
