Last month, Sega announced that Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 are coming to PS5 and Xbox Series. The Asia English website clarified that you won’t be able to transfer your saved progress from the original PS4/Xbox versions to these new versions.
As a big Yakuza fan, I was happy to see Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut confirmed for PS5, Xbox, and PC – the store pages already showed that. But I was a little worried because the info about transferring saves wasn’t showing up anywhere for the new versions of Yakuza Kiwami and Kiwami 2. I did find a post on the Asia English website from about a month ago that lists the extra languages for the PS5 and Xbox Series versions of Kiwami and Kiwami 2, and it also had a little note at the bottom of the announcement…
The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 are updated to include more languages. However, the gameplay and features are the same as the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions, so be careful not to buy the same game twice.
*Save data cannot be transferred between PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions of the game.
*Save data cannot be transferred between the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S versions of the game.

You can now play Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC. Both games are coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on November 13th and to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on December 8th. PC players will also receive updates adding more language options.
