Beta testing for Version 3.8 has begun, even before all the content for Version 3.7—including the conclusion of the Amphoreus storyline and the introduction of Cyrene—has been released in Honkai: Star Rail.
The recent leaks seem reliable because they come from a very early build of the game’s next update, though it’s still likely to change during testing. Despite this, some significant details have emerged, including information about the new character, Dahlia, in Honkai: Star Rail. She appears to be a powerful addition, and could even become a key character for Firefly teams, potentially taking Ruan Mei’s place.

The Enemy Seems Like A SAM Unit
Recent beta tests for Version 3.8 have revealed a new boss character. A leaker named Hiragara shared information, posted on Reddit by user LongjumpingBoot3262, detailing a boss currently known as “Sam_01.” The leak includes both details about the boss and early images of its design, which were found within the game’s update files.
The new boss looks like a SAM armor that’s been taken over by the Swarm. It’s a darker metal color with red streaks, and appears to have mutated like the Swarm itself. There’s a hollow space in the center of its chest, giving it an overall corrupted appearance – almost like a twisted version of Firefly from Honkai: Star Rail.

The New Boss May Be One Of Firefly’s Former Allies
Okay, so this robot definitely looks like one of Firefly’s, but I’m not sure if it’s her specific unit. It could actually be AR-26710, one of her old buddies from the Iron Cavalry! They introduced him in that animated short about Firefly on the Honkai: Star Rail YouTube channel. It was cool seeing Firefly with her team before she started working with the Stellaron Hunters.
In the video, Firefly and other SAM units battle the Propagation’s Swarm. During the fight, AR-26710, a SAM unit fighting alongside Firefly, is injured by an impalement. They remove their mask, which is then used to destroy a Swarm King. The visible portion of AR-26710’s face and the injury to their chest closely match a boss design that was previously leaked for Version 3.8.
It’s possible the SAM unit wasn’t destroyed, but turned into a minion by the boss who defeated them – the Swarm King. While details are still limited, this leaked boss seems poised to reveal significant story details for Firefly in Honkai: Star Rail.
