After the huge success of S.S. Rajamouli’s film, the world of Baahubali is expanding with a new animated spinoff, Baahubali – The Eternal War Part 1. The first trailer has just been released, and the story continues the adventures of the main hero, who is now caught in a massive war across 14 different worlds following the dramatic ending of the previous film.
Okay, so I just saw the first teaser for Baahubali – The Eternal War, and wow, the animation looks incredible! It really amps up the action. What’s even cooler is that Prabhas and Ramya Krishna are back to voice their characters, Prince Amarendra Baahubali and Sivagami, just like in the live-action movies. You can check out the trailer for Part 1 down below – it’s coming to theaters in 2027, so we have a little wait, but it looks worth it!
Director S.S. Rajamouli initially released Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion in 2015 and 2017. He has recently combined these two films into a single, re-edited version titled The Epic, which is now playing in U.S. theaters and receiving mostly positive feedback. Gregory Nussen of ScreenRant called it “a maximalist film which somehow maintains its shocking level of adrenaline despite its nearly four-hour runtime.”
Following the success of the original Baahubali films, director Rajamouli gained international recognition for RRR, his critically acclaimed action movie. RRR tells a fictionalized story of two Indian freedom fighters during the British colonial period, and shares similar strengths with Baahubali, including spectacular action sequences and a skillful blend of different film genres.
For The Eternal War, Ishan Shukla (known for The Bandits of Golak and his work on Star Wars: Visions) is directing. Rajamouli shared his thoughts on how this new story came about, praising Shukla’s creative vision in a recent statement.
When Ishan pitched the idea of continuing the Baahubali story as a stunning animated epic, I immediately loved it. It feels like a natural next step for the world we created – something that will really excite those who’ve been with us from the start, and also draw in a whole new audience. I’m incredibly excited to be bringing these two films to the big screen.
I just heard some amazing news – Scott Mosier, who’s worked on films like The Grinch and Free Birds, actually wrote the script for Baahubali – The Eternal War Part 1! It’s a bit of a surprise, but it makes sense. The team clearly has a lot of faith in him, just like Rajamouli did with Shukla. Honestly, with how visually stunning this movie is going to be – potentially competing with the best animated films of the 21st century – it needs a really strong story to back it up.
