Clayface photo sets up major Batman character in the DCU

A fresh snapshot taken on the Clayface filming location hints at the imminent introduction of a significant figure from the Batman cosmos in the DC Universe.

This summer saw the debut of Superman on the silver screen, and the DC Universe is rapidly growing, with Supergirl joining in on June 26, 2026, followed by Clayface on September 11, 2026.

Under the direction of James Watkins, this film is venturing into chilling realms, as it tells the unsettling tale of actor Max Hagen, who undergoes a physical transformation reminiscent of “body horror,” similar to that seen in The Fly, due to his metamorphosis into the character Clayface.

Since late August, the movie has been filmed not only within but also near Liverpool, and observant viewers have been capturing images of the set that hint at what’s to come. Be advised: possible SPOILER alerts…

In the Batman comics, the Flying Graysons boast an extensive and renowned history. With a prop hinting at their presence on the Clayface set, there’s a possibility they may make an appearance in the DC Universe, signaling a strong likelihood that Robin might join the scene!

As a gaming enthusiast delving into the world of comics, let me tell you about the incredible family of acrobats I recently discovered – The Flying Graysons! This trio, masterfully created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane, made their debut in Detective Comics #38 back in April 1940. The family consisted of John and Mary, a dynamic duo of acrobatic prowess, and their talented son Dick.

The Graysons were employed by Haly’s Circus, but tragically fell victim to mobster Tony Zucco’s attempts to blackmail the circus. To ruin the Grayson act, Zucco corroded their ropes with acid, leading to John and Mary’s fatal fall, leaving Dick without parents.

Through observing similarities in Dick, Bruce Wayne took him under his wing as a ward, and over time, this youth evolved into Robin, also known as Batman’s brilliant sidekick.

The advertisement noticed on the Clayface set might simply serve as advertising for the Flying Graysons, subtly appearing in the background during a scene.

Furthermore, this event might significantly contribute to the main plotline, and it could also serve as an introduction for the characters John, Mary, and Dick. This setup could potentially lead to a crossover with Batman when he makes his debut in the DCU.

Hey there fellow gaming enthusiasts! Dive deep into the DC Universe with me as I uncover the mysteries surrounding Clayface’s emergence in the DCU instead of The Batman 2.
