Following a recent Law & Order: SVU episode (now streaming on Peacock) that highlighted the strengths of Aimé Donna Kelly as a regular cast member and Kelli Giddish’s return as Amanda Rollins, the show is promising a major episode when the fall 2025 TV season begins. A preview shows characters from the original Law & Order series will appear in the spinoff – a rare occurrence. But the biggest news for many fans is the confirmation that Ice-T will reprise his role as Fin.
Recently, SVU and Law & Order have only had one large, two-part crossover event. However, the seventh episode of Season 27, titled “False Idols,” will feature a smaller crossover with District Attorney Nick Baxter (Tony Goldwyn) and Assistant District Attorney Nolan Price (Hugh Dancy) from Law & Order. Fans of both shows will likely enjoy this, but SVU viewers will be especially excited to see Fin return.
When the District Attorney gets involved in a case beyond their usual role, you know it’s a big one. It will be fascinating to see how Price and Carisi work together, especially after their complex interactions last season. Meanwhile, Fin has been noticeably absent this season, with Ice-T only making substantial appearances in the first and third episodes so far.
I have to admit, I was pretty shocked by what happened at the season premiere. Apparently, things went south fast for Fin – as Ice-T put it, he really got messed up trying to break up what looked like an attack. He ended up in the hospital and someone stole his gun! Now, I’m really curious to see how this affects his relationship with Benson. She seemed pretty upset that he didn’t tell her about the gun in the first episode of Season 27, and I’m a little worried about some fallout between them.
The upcoming “False Idols” episode will show Fin facing a tough day at work as the team investigates a case involving a well-known author and tries to uncover the truth. After 26 seasons, Fin and Benson have a strong friendship that survived even major changes like Stabler leaving and then returning to the show, so it would be disappointing to see a lasting rift develop between them because of what happens in the first episode.
It’s possible the man wasn’t thinking straight after a head injury when he decided to lie to his captain. As a result, fans will have to wait an extra week to see the next episode. “False Idols” will now air on Thursday, November 13th at 9 p.m. Eastern Time on NBC, between “Law & Order” at 8 p.m. and “Law & Order: Organized Crime” at 10 p.m.
Next Thursday, November 6th, NBC is switching things up instead of airing another episode of Law & Order. They’ll be broadcasting a special called Wicked: One Wonderful Night to build excitement for the Wicked: For Good movie coming out in 2025. Expect a lot more music than usual – Wicked Thursdays will definitely be different from Law & Order Thursdays!
Fans have been waiting for November 13th, and it promises to be worth it! Not only will SVU bring back the beloved character Fin and have a small crossover event, but the original Law & Order will also officially introduce David Ajala as the new detective taking over for Jalen Shaw (previously played by Mehcad Brooks).
