The trailer for Fackham Hall, a new British comedy starring Tom Felton (known from Harry Potter), has become Bleecker Street’s most-watched trailer ever. The film is directed by Jim O’Hanlon and the screenplay is credited to a team of writers including comedian Jimmy Carr.
The trailer for Fackham Hall quickly gained popularity, reaching 7.3 million views within its first day – a record for Bleecker Street. The film features Tom Felton, Katherine Waterston (known for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), Ben Radcliffe from The Witcher, along with Thomasin McKenzie, Emma Laird, and Damien Lewis.
Fackham Hall is a comedic film that playfully mixes the style of Downton Abbey with the fast-paced humor of Airplane! and Monty Python. The story takes place in 1930s England and centers around Eric (Daniel Radcliffe), a porter who gets a job at the grand Fackham Hall. He soon falls in love with Rose Davenport (Mackenzie), the lady of the house, but their romance is threatened when a murder occurs and Eric becomes the main suspect. Tom Felton plays Archibald, a rival who is also interested in Rose.
I was instantly hooked by the trailer for this movie, especially with its funny tagline: “Born for aristocracy. Bred for idiocy.” It’s such a clever contrast – all that beautiful period detail mixed with complete silliness. Honestly, it’s probably why the trailer blew up online so fast. It’s rare to see a comedy like this really grab people’s attention these days, and I think this one’s different.
Tom Felton, famous for playing Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, is trying something completely different with Fackham Hall. After appearing in smaller, more serious dramas and thrillers, he’s now leading a very creative comedy that breaks the usual rules of the genre. The early response to the movie’s trailer hints that this film could be a turning point in his career, potentially leading to bigger and more diverse leading roles outside of the Harry Potter universe.
I’ve always loved films that aren’t afraid to be funny and well-made, like The Death of Stalin and Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life. And honestly, that’s exactly the vibe I’m getting from Fackham Hall – it feels like it’s carrying that torch.
Steven Soderbergh’s “Logan Lucky,” with stars like Daniel Craig, Adam Driver, Channing Tatum, and Riley Keough, remains Bleecker Street’s most financially successful film in the U.S., earning $27.7 million. Though comedies that playfully imitate other films haven’t been big hits recently, the strong initial response to the trailer for “Fackham Hall” suggests this film could bring that genre back to theaters.
Fackham Hall is set to hit theaters December 5, 2025.
