Taylor Sheridan Is Writing Paramount’s Call of Duty Movie

Despite his new deal with NBCUniversal, Taylor Sheridan will continue to work with Paramount on a film adaptation of the popular video game Call of Duty. He’s teaming up with director Peter Berg, a longtime friend and collaborator from films like Hell or High Water and Wind River, to co-write the screenplay. They will also produce the movie alongside David Glasser, head of Sheridan’s production company, 101 Studios. The Call of Duty franchise, with over 500 million copies sold, is a major success for both Sheridan and Berg. The game, known for its realistic war settings like WWII and the Cold War, has been a topic of movie rumors for a decade. Plans were paused in 2020, but Activision and Paramount Pictures officially greenlit the project in September 2025. Sheridan’s contract with Paramount runs until next March, allowing him to complete this film before moving exclusively to NBCUniversal.
