New World Players Launch Petition To Save Game From Amazon

So, I just heard some pretty disappointing news – Amazon’s officially shutting down New World. They’ve announced they’re ending support for the game on both PC and consoles. It’s a bummer for anyone still playing, honestly.

Although the developers plan to maintain the servers until 2026, it’s obvious this signals the eventual shutdown of the online RPG. The game will inevitably be taken offline, and unfortunately, all player information will be permanently lost.

Players are upset and are taking action, starting a petition to bring the game’s original developers back to work on the project.

New World Fans Petition To Continue Game Support

The petition is now available and has already gathered nearly 14,000 signatures. The person who started the petition believes the recent update has given the community a new boost and shows how important it is to continue developing and improving the game.

The message pleads with those in charge to bring back the New World: Aeternum team. They’re vital for keeping the game fun, lively, and connected – things the community has really come to love. Without fresh updates, there’s a real danger of losing that active player base, which would be a shame for everyone involved.

They believe that with enough encouragement, they can demonstrate to the game developers just how much fans and players value their work on the RPG.

Honestly, I doubt this petition will make a difference. If another company doesn’t step in to fund the game and keep it running, the servers will likely be shut down eventually.

Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if players figured out a way to keep a server or two running even after the official ones shut down. It all depends on whether Amazon lets us, though. I’m hoping they’ll allow the community to keep things going!

The recent Amazon layoffs have also impacted a Lord of the Rings massively multiplayer online game that was in development. I suspect this game, simply due to the popularity of the Lord of the Rings franchise, would have been more successful than Amazon’s existing game, New World.

New World is currently available to play, and the servers aren’t scheduled for maintenance anytime soon, giving you plenty of time to gain experience and explore everything the game has to offer.

To show our gratitude, we’re making both the Nighthaven release and the Rise of the Angry Earth free for everyone. Nighthaven will be available to all, and Rise of the Angry Earth will be free for all PC players.
