“Nobody Wants This” is a charming romantic comedy series. The show follows Joanne (Kristen Bell), a dating podcast host, and Noah (Adam Brody), a rabbi, and was praised for its realistic portrayal of emotional well-being and faith in a modern relationship. Now available on Netflix, the second season explores these themes further as the couple navigates the complexities of building a lasting relationship and figuring out how to make their partnership work.
This season, Noah and Joanne aren’t the only ones dealing with big life changes. Their friends Sasha, Esther, and Morgan are also facing their own challenges, sometimes even more intense than Noah and Joanne’s. After nine episodes of funny, awkward, and relatable moments, the season ends with an engagement party that makes everyone rethink their beliefs about faith and love. The finale leaves one couple broken up, another uncertain about their future, and a third moving towards a deeper commitment.
Noah and Joanne “Table” Their Big Problem

Netflix
The second season of Nobody Wants This begins with Noah and Joanne seemingly happily cohabitating and hosting their first dinner party as a couple. However, casual conversation quickly reveals that the core issue in their relationship – Noah’s religious beliefs and Joanne’s lack thereof – remains unresolved. Noah hopes Joanne will eventually embrace faith on her own terms, while she needs reassurance that he’ll accept her regardless, without any pressure to change. These doubts briefly cast a shadow over their happiness, but Noah’s considerate gift of a nightstand temporarily eases her concerns. Sadly, this harmony doesn’t extend to Noah’s work life, as he’s passed over for a promotion at the Temple.
After finding out Sasha had become close to Morgan, Esther tries to rebuild her relationship with her husband and inject some fun back into their lives. They briefly reconnect, but things become complicated when Bina stirs up Sasha’s desire for a baby. Esther attempts to be supportive, but a potential pregnancy fright forces her to re-evaluate everything. We discover Sasha and Esther married young after becoming pregnant, and despite his efforts, she starts to pull away from him.
Morgan begins the season feeling secure and independent, but she’s thrown off balance when a friend of Noah’s shows no interest in her. She quickly gets involved with her ex-therapist, Dr. Andy (Arian Moayed), and their relationship moves incredibly fast. He asks her to move in with him almost right away and proposes soon after, during a Purim celebration where Joanne and Noah are meeting each other’s families. At that same party, Lynn (Stephanie Faracy) has a realization Joanne has been wishing for and decides to convert to Judaism.
Morgan and Noah both face difficult revelations. Morgan discovers her fiancé, Dr. Andy, has a pattern of dating his patients, and she realizes he knows everything about her while she knows very little about him. Meanwhile, Noah’s new role as head rabbi at Temple Ahava doesn’t turn out as expected. The temple’s founder, Rabbi Neil, has a non-Jewish partner and is very open-minded, but the congregation is too unconventional for Noah. He’s also forced to deal with his relationship with Joanne when she loses her apartment, making him admit he isn’t ready to live together.
Three Relationships on the Rocks in ‘Nobody Wants This’

Netflix
The second season of Nobody Wants This ends with Joanne and Noah, looking dressed up, riding in an elevator together. The air is thick with tension, leaving viewers to wonder if they’ve already split up. When they finally talk, they agree to pretend everything is okay.
Morgan’s engagement party is the setting for a surprising turn of events. Early in the evening, Morgan tells her sister, Joanne, that she’s lost her feelings for her fiancé, Dr. Andy, and asks for honest feedback. Joanne shares her concerns about his character, leading Morgan to decide she needs to end the relationship. Although she tries to break up with him, she doesn’t quite go through with it at first. After a frank conversation with Lynn, who encourages her to prioritize her own happiness, Morgan finally ends things with Dr. Andy, admitting she was largely motivated by wanting a relationship like Joanne and Noah’s. Dr. Andy is heartbroken, but he admires Morgan’s newfound self-awareness.
The season’s biggest surprise came when Esther unexpectedly asked Sasha for a separation. She admitted she’s the one with the issues, but feels she needs space to work through them. Sasha confided in Morgan that he’s willing to wait for Esther, even if she dates others. Despite still loving his wife, Sasha and Morgan are now free to explore their complicated connection, and this potential love triangle is expected to be a major storyline in Season 3.
The biggest question heading into Season 2 is whether Joanne and Noah can overcome their differing religious beliefs. Noah decides he wants to marry someone Jewish and worries Joanne will eventually feel resentful if they stay together. Feeling stuck, he ends their conversation and leaves a party. This breakup means all three couples in the show are now split up. Later, a heartbroken Joanne meets with Esther, who helps her realize she’s approaching the issue of religious conversion incorrectly. Joanne has been hoping for a sudden, dramatic change of heart, but Esther points out that she’s already quietly embraced many aspects of Judaism through her everyday actions and choices.
Joanne and Noah meet at the Urban Light art installation in Los Angeles, and Noah immediately tells her she’s the one – and that her Jewish faith doesn’t bother him. The season ends with Joanne playfully suggesting he’s fortunate, hinting she’s open to embracing Judaism. This sets up the next season to focus on Joanne’s journey of conversion rather than whether the couple will stay together. You can watch Nobody Wants This on Netflix.
