A writer who worked on an Avengers story has shared their thoughts on Glen Powell potentially joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While they think the suggested role for Powell would be good, they believe his skills would be a better fit for a character already confirmed to appear in the new DC Universe. Powell’s only previous experience with superhero movies was playing a stockbroker in The Dark Knight Rises.
The actor has quickly become a major star in Hollywood, appearing in popular films like Anyone but You, Top Gun: Maverick, and Twisters. This success has sparked a lot of fan interest in seeing him join the Marvel Cinematic Universe or James Gunn’s DC Universe.
Though Powell hasn’t played a superhero yet, there’s an ideal role for him at DC Comics. However, a writer from Marvel wants him for a part in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Both opportunities involve upcoming superhero shows, but I believe Powell would be fantastic in the Marvel role, and it could be significant. Ultimately, I’m hoping his previous work with DC will give him the edge there.
Avengers: Doomsday’s Writer Suggested Glen Powell For A Major Marvel Hero
Michael Waldron, the creator of the Loki series for Marvel Studios, is now contributing to the writing of Avengers: Doomsday. He originally wrote the script for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, but is now helping the Russo Brothers and writer Stephen McFeely on Doomsday. Waldron also wrote Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, giving him a strong understanding of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Writer Christopher Waldron thinks Glen Powell would be a great fit for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, specifically suggesting he could play the character Nova. Waldron knows Powell well – they created the comedy series Chad Powers together – and is familiar with both Powell’s acting abilities and the Marvel world. While a Nova series was once planned for Disney+, development is currently on hold.
I truly believe Powell has everything it takes to make Nova a major player in the MCU’s cosmic side of things – he’s just got that star power! His comedic skills are fantastic, and I can already picture him having amazing chemistry with Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord. It would be incredible to see him even potentially take over as a Guardian of the Galaxy, especially considering his comic book history with the team after Peter Quill moved on. He’d fit right in!
Glen Powell’s Best Superhero Role Is At DC, Not Marvel
While a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be great for Powell, he’s ideally suited to play Booster Gold in the DC universe. His performance as Chad Powers demonstrates this – Powell excels at portraying a fallen star who reinvents himself, driven by a desire for acceptance and affection.
Before becoming a superhero, Booster Gold was a talented football quarterback. He later used futuristic technology and time travel to travel to the past and reinvent himself. Actor Powell has demonstrated an ability to play this character effectively, bringing the necessary comedic timing to make Booster Gold genuinely funny.
Since DC announced a Booster Gold TV series, Glen Powell has become a fan favorite to play the lead role. Powell himself has acknowledged the rumors, noting that “Booster Gold is really funny.” As the series develops slowly, casting Powell would likely give the project a boost, and many fans are hoping it happens.
