Just weeks before its release, a new image has surfaced from Season 2 of Fallout. The Prime Video series, based on the popular Bethesda video game, returns in December. Ella Purnell as Lucy MacLean and Walton Goggins as The Ghoul will be traveling towards New Vegas, searching for Lucy’s father, Hank MacLean (Kyle MacLachlan), who was last seen near the city. The new photo offers a glimpse into their adventure, which is being called a “buddy road trip” through the Mojave Desert.
A new image from Empire Magazine shows Lucy and The Ghoul talking as they travel down a deserted road. It seems this lonely setting will allow them to have some important conversations that could significantly change both characters. According to Purnell, their journey to New Vegas feels like a road trip at times, but other times they’re constantly clashing. They’re both trying to influence each other, leading to the question of whether The Ghoul will become a better person, or if Lucy will be led down a darker path – or if they’ll meet somewhere in between.
Throughout the new season of Fallout, viewers will see both returning and new characters. The first trailer offered a peek into the Ghoul’s history, revealing a powerful figure from his past named Cooper Howard. We also saw Robert Edwin House, known as Mr. House and played by Justin Theroux, in a flashback before the nuclear bombs fell. As the founder and CEO of RobCo Industries, Mr. House warned Howard that the bombs were just the start of things to come, and Theroux says the two characters will have several more conversations throughout the season.
We filmed a few amazing scenes that were intense, thoughtful arguments. It felt a bit like performing ‘Waiting for Godot’ within the larger story.

Season 2 of Fallout will delve deeper into the past with flashbacks revealing more about The Ghoul’s life before the bombs dropped and the events that caused the apocalypse. Alongside these historical glimpses, the show will continue to unfold in the present day, set in the new Mojave Wasteland. Fans of the Fallout: New Vegas game can expect to find familiar locations, creatures, and characters, and the story will introduce the powerful Caesar’s Legion. At the heart of the season is Lucy and The Ghoul’s journey together, which will likely test their beliefs and challenge them as they search for Hank and try to uncover the truth.
