Twitch responds after Emiru assaulted during TwitchCon 2025 meet and greet

During a meet-and-greet event at TwitchCon 2025, streamer and cosplayer Emiru was attacked. Video of the incident rapidly circulated online.

On October 17th at the San Diego Convention Center, a man unexpectedly grabbed Emiru while she was on stage. Security quickly intervened, removing the man and leading Emiru off stage.

On October 18th, Twitch released a statement on X (formerly Twitter) calling the incident “completely unacceptable and deeply upsetting.”

Twitch responds following TwitchCon incident

Twitch confirmed that police and security removed the person involved from the event and permanently banned them from the platform.

To improve safety, the platform has boosted security at the fan meet-and-greet check-in, added more staff near the streamers, and temporarily stopped allowing guests to bring plus-ones for the remainder of the event.

The platform confirmed it has absolutely no tolerance for harassment or anything that makes our community feel unsafe.

Emiru has experienced harassment at public events before. Earlier this year, a stalker targeted her and fellow streamers Valkyrae and Cinna while they were appearing in Santa Monica. This incident sparked worries about how to keep creators safe at events where fans gather.

Similar to others, popular streamers like Asmongold have also advised women against going to TwitchCon. This followed concerns about safety that led Valkyrae and QTCinderella to cancel their appearances.
