Chucklefish has announced that Witchbrook, their upcoming life-sim and social RPG, will now be released in 2026. While development is going well, the team has decided to delay the game from its original Winter 2025 target.
The developers of Witchbrook say the game is progressing beautifully, with the charm, depth, and detail they envisioned. They’re committed to making a high-quality game while also ensuring their team has a good work-life balance. While this focus on well-being might mean the game takes a little longer to finish, Chucklefish believes it ultimately results in a better game made by a happy and rested team.
Witchbrook is a game set in the charming coastal town of Mossport, where you become a student at the magical Witchbrook College. You’ll play as a young witch learning to master spells in a world filled with both everyday life and fantastical wonders. Expect to make friends, explore mysterious places, uncover hidden lore, and maybe even find romance as you develop your magical abilities.
Chucklefish explained they aimed to build a vibrant and immersive world for players to discover, filled with memorable stories, engaging quests, and fascinating gameplay mechanics.
The developers recently shared a first look at the game’s map, Mossport, to give players a sense of its size. Every area shown on the map—including places like the winding trails of Shadhollow Forest and the beaches of Parasol Sands—is fully explorable. The lively Mossport High Street will host festivals and markets, and the Student Village is designed to feel full of life.
I’m so excited! The team just said they’ll be sharing a lot more soon, including a really detailed look at how we’ll be able to customize our characters. Plus, a new issue of The Witchbrook Oracle is coming! Chucklefish and Robotality are getting us all hyped for the magical world of Mossport, and honestly, I can’t wait to see what they reveal. They said ‘Welcome to Mossport!’ and it feels like we’re really being invited in!
The extra time we’ve had to develop the game has allowed us to explore some great new possibilities, like adding support for more platforms and languages. We’re now planning to release Witchbrook on PC, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, and we’ll announce support for even more platforms soon.
