Corgi goes viral jumping in fountain after bringing bride & groom their wedding rings

A wedding in Santa Barbara got an adorable interruption when the couple’s corgi, who was carrying the rings, stopped to take a break right in the middle of the aisle.

At Elizabeth and Dominic Valenzuela’s wedding on August 8th at Villa & Vine, their one-year-old corgi, Kobe, had an important job: carrying the rings. He did a great job delivering them, but then playfully jumped into a fountain right in the middle of the aisle!

Everyone at the wedding started laughing when Kobe, the corgi ring bearer, playfully jumped into the water and began splashing around. The adorable moment was filmed by The Wedding Leash, a pet care service, and shared on Instagram on October 2nd, quickly becoming a viral sensation. Their caption jokingly referred to it as a ‘wedding fail,’ explaining that Kobe had decided to take an unexpected dip.

Bride and groom thought it was “amazing”

Lou Gomez, the pet attendant at the wedding who looked after Kobe, said the moment quickly became a favorite part of the day. He told PEOPLE that both the couple and the guests clearly loved it.

The couple also told the publication they weren’t bothered by the unexpected splash. Elizabeth explained she was briefly surprised, but then realized it was typical behavior for Kobe. Dominic agreed, saying he found it fantastic and perfectly in line with Kobe’s personality.

Elizabeth and Dominic adopted a corgi puppy named Kobe in December 2024. They saw a sign in their neighborhood advertising corgi puppies, and after learning he was born on August 24th – Kobe Bryant Day – they decided to name him in honor of the basketball star.

The now-famous video of Kobe Bryant at the fountain has become a cherished part of the couple’s wedding memories, which they remember as a joyful and personal celebration.
