Microsoft recently increased the price of Xbox Game Pass, but the change isn’t happening immediately for everyone. When the 50% price increase for Game Pass Ultimate was announced on October 1st, Microsoft sent emails to subscribers detailing when the new price would take effect. For some users in the US, the price increase wasn’t scheduled to begin until November.
Microsoft has announced that customers in several countries outside the US can keep their current subscription prices if they don’t cancel their memberships. However, if a subscription is canceled and then restarted, the new price will apply. According to The Verge, this price change only impacts users in Austria, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Korea, Poland, and India who cancel and resubscribe.
Microsoft notified subscribers that the price changes will only apply to new purchases. If you have an existing, automatically renewing subscription, your current price will remain the same. However, if you cancel and then resubscribe, the new price will apply.
Microsoft has informed The Verge that customers in affected regions can keep their current subscription prices for now. The company cites “local requirements” as the reason for potential future changes. Subscribers will receive at least 60 days’ notice before any price increases take effect, meaning they won’t see higher rates for at least two months.
Microsoft has announced price increases for its Game Pass Ultimate subscription. Current subscribers in the US will see the higher rates starting November 4th. New subscribers in the US will be charged $30 per month immediately.
Many US retailers are still selling Game Pass Ultimate for $20, which is a great way for current members to renew their subscription at a lower price while supplies last.
Just before the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 on November 14th, Microsoft is increasing the price of Game Pass Ultimate. This means playing Call of Duty through Game Pass will now cost more.
