Millionaire banker arrested 9 years after woman pushed in front of London bus

Nearly nine years after a video surfaced showing a woman being pushed in front of a London bus, a wealthy banker has been arrested in connection with the incident. The case was one of the UK’s most well-known unsolved mysteries that spread widely online.

In May 2017, a CCTV camera on Putney Bridge recorded a jogger seemingly pushing a 33-year-old woman into the street just as a bus was approaching.

I couldn’t believe what I saw in the video! This driver just barely missed hitting a woman, and she ended up with some minor injuries. The clip went viral so fast, and everyone online started calling the driver the “Putney Pusher.” It was really scary to watch, and I’m glad she wasn’t seriously hurt.

Metropolitan Police have arrested a 44-year-old man at his west London home, valued at $1.8 million, on suspicion of attempted serious assault.

Millionaire banker with Royal Family ties arrested

So, apparently, the police arrested a 44-year-old guy on Monday, June 15th. They think he tried to seriously hurt someone, which is pretty wild. That’s what the official statement said, anyway.

A man is in police custody following an incident that occurred on May 5, 2017, on Putney Bridge in Putney, where a woman was pushed into the path of a bus. Police are continuing their investigation.

The New York Post reports that the person police are investigating is a wealthy banker and former soldier in the British Army. He’s also said to have connections to royal families in Europe, including the British House of Windsor. Police haven’t released his name yet.

The incident gained widespread notoriety in 2017 when video surfaced of the jogger running on after a woman was deliberately pushed into oncoming traffic.

As a longtime follower of this case, it’s fascinating to learn that investigators spoke with about 50 people over the years following the attack. It’s also interesting how many different men were brought in for questioning but ultimately let go – they weren’t charged with anything. I remember reading about Eric Bellquist, an American financier who was initially a suspect, but he apparently had a solid alibi proving he was back in the States when it happened, so he was cleared.

As a long-time follower of this story, I thought it was over back in 2018 when the police seemed to hit a dead end. But wow, this new arrest is the most significant thing to happen publicly in years – it’s really shaken things up!

No charges have been announced, and the investigation remains ongoing.
