Geometry Dash streamer suffers brutal fail after 400,000 attempts on game’s hardest level

Okay, so this is seriously rough. Doggie, a huge Geometry Dash streamer, just failed GRIEF at 97% – after two years of trying! I’ve been watching him attempt it for ages, and he’s put in over 400,000 tries already. Everyone thinks GRIEF is going to be the hardest level anyone has ever beaten in Geometry Dash, and getting so close only to fail like that? Ouch. It’s heartbreaking to watch!

GRIEF is a highly anticipated, extremely difficult level coming to Geometry Dash. It’s created by icedcave and serves as a backstory to Slaughterhouse, a previous record-breaking level verified by Doggie in 2021.

This level hasn’t been officially confirmed as beatable yet, so it can’t be added to the Demonlist rankings until someone completes it entirely. As of June 14, 2026, Pointercrate ranks “Thinking Space II” as the most difficult level in Geometry Dash, with “Flamewall,” “Amethyst,” and “Tidal Wave” following closely behind.

I’ve been following Doggie’s journey with GRIEF since May of 2024, and it’s been amazing to watch him steadily improve over hundreds of streams! The Geometry Dash Fan Wiki says he finally broke through a plateau on May 7th, 2026, hitting 84% after being stuck at 83% for half a year. Then, just a month later, on June 14th, during his incredible 361st attempt livestreaming the level, he actually got to 97%! It’s seriously impressive.

After 2 years and over 400,000 attempts, Geometry Dash streamer Doggie fails at 97% on GRIEF – a level set to be the hardest ever completed in the game’s history

Doggie dies at 97% on GRIEF

If you haven’t seen Geometry Dash before, this gameplay might seem confusing. What makes the level so hard is that it requires perfectly timed clicks – everything needs to be done within just a few moments.

According to analysis from the gaming community, the game GRIEF uses a complex system of 652 distinct inputs running at 240 frames per second. These inputs are timed very precisely – some require activation within just two frames, while others have slightly more leniency: 20 need to be done within three frames, 71 within four, and 85 within five.

Even for a difficult challenge like ‘Doggie died,’ the timing was extremely tight. When played at a high frame rate – specifically 240 FPS, which is common among skilled players including Doggie – there was only a six-frame window to succeed, meaning he had less than 1/40th of a second to react. Any mistake in timing, even slightly too early or late, would immediately end the attempt.

Knowing that 97% of players couldn’t beat the level made Doggie’s near-failure particularly tough. He’d previously only reached 84%, so getting so close was already a huge improvement, and realizing he had a shot at completing it added even more stress.

A challenging level in Geometry Dash quickly gained attention, sparking discussion among players about whether it truly deserved the label of “hardest level ever.” While many levels receive this claim, several players strongly believe this new level, called GRIEF, is significantly more difficult than anything previously finished.

Okay, so Doggie hasn’t officially beaten GRIEF yet, but everyone’s talking about how incredibly hard it is – like, a 97% death rate! It’s already a huge deal after two years of players trying. If he actually manages to finish it, people are saying it’ll instantly become one of the best levels ever made in Geometry Dash.
