Low-poly turn-based RPG Entropy set to release in Early Access on August 18, demo available now

DreadXP and Lovely Hellplace, the creators of Dread Delusion, have announced that their new game, Entropy, will be available on Steam Early Access starting August 18th. The game, a low-poly, turn-based RPG, is expected to remain in Early Access for approximately a year.

Entropy, launching in August 2025, is a retro-style RPG with strategic, turn-based combat reminiscent of classic Japanese role-playing games. Players will control a group of up to six mercenaries as they fight to defend their world from a demonic invasion.

The creators of Dread Delusion, Lovely Hellplace, and publisher DreadXP unexpectedly released a playable demo for their new dark fantasy RPG, Entropy, on Steam today. They also announced that the full game will be available in Early Access on August 18th.

Okay, so I’ve been playing Entropy, and it’s seriously cool. It feels like those classic Japanese RPGs I grew up with, but set in a world after everything went down. You explore a huge map, visit towns full of interesting people, and the battles are all turn-based and strategic. Plus, the graphics are done in this awesome, retro style – think PlayStation 1 – which just adds to the whole vibe. It’s like a throwback to the early days of consoles, but with modern gameplay.

Humanity is fading away, with only small, scattered communities left. It wasn’t a sudden disaster that caused this decline, but rather the slow passage of time and a mysterious inability for people to have children. Between these settlements lie desolate wastelands haunted by dangerous creatures, and the settlements themselves are grim, backward places often controlled by cruel leaders.

Command a team of up to six mercenaries, each with their own skills and quirks (and a few old injuries!). Lead them on a dangerous journey across a blighted land to stop a demonic invasion. Entropy features deep, turn-based combat where you can target specific enemy body parts to cripple and defeat your foes – so don’t be afraid to experiment with different tactics.

Explore a fading world brimming with unusual creatures and memorable characters, all set against a stunning retro backdrop. You’ll face tough challenges and discover valuable treasures along the way. Earn money and items to recruit new mercenaries when your team members fall, and grow stronger by leveling up and unlocking special abilities.

The demo for Entropy is available now on Steam.
