A couple who met playing the video game League of Legends twelve years ago received a heartwarming wedding gift from the game’s creators, Riot Games.
Most League of Legends players would probably laugh at the idea of finding their perfect match while playing solo queue. But for one couple, that’s exactly what happened.
A post from League of Legends streamer ‘Ironelia’ is going viral after she shared a heartwarming story: her sister and her future husband met while playing Riot Games’ popular MOBA 12 years ago, and Riot recently sent them a special, personalized gift to celebrate their wedding.
She shared that her sister and her future husband first connected almost twelve years ago while playing League of Legends. The couple is getting married this Saturday.
To celebrate the special occasion, Ironelia reached out to Riot Support and requested a short congratulatory message for the couple.

What she got back was far more than she expected. The package included a custom wedding card addressed to the couple’s in-game usernames, featuring League’s iconic lovebirds Xayah and Rakan. Alongside a congratulatory message, Riot also created a custom keepsake commemorating where their relationship began.
Ironelia explained in a later post that the gift was a framed map of Summoner’s Rift. It included the phrase ‘We met here’ above the map and the date they became friends below it.
Le cadeau est un coffret qui contient une plaque avec la carte de la faille de l’invocateur. Au dessus il y a la mention “We met here” et en dessous la date à laquelle ils se sont ajoutés en amis 🥹

However, it was a second surprise hidden inside the gift that resonated most with fans. Ironelia expected a standard corporate congratulations card, but multiple Riot employees contributed their own personal messages to the couple. One Riot employee wrote: “You turned a video game into a love story. That’s not something everyone can do.”
Another added, “From champion select to saying yes, what a journey. Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness.”
I was reading this story about two players who first connected in a game thirteen years ago, and it really hit me. Can you believe it? Thirteen years! The game has changed so much since then – the strategies, the updates, everything. Champions have become popular and then faded away, but somehow, these two are still playing together. It’s pretty awesome, actually.
Weddings and video games have become increasingly popular together. For example, one couple’s wedding went viral after Sony gave them free PlayStation games as a gift for inviting them. And for Pokémon fans, there are even official wedding rings featuring the popular creatures, perfect for a themed proposal.
