The first official Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle pizzeria has opened in New York, giving fans a unique dining experience inspired by the iconic shelled heroes.
Back in February, Paramount unveiled plans to open real-life TMNT pizzerias in multiple locations internationally. Now the first has opened its doors on Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica and is currently in a trial phase before the grand opening on June 20.
Creator Andy Nguyen, who has also masterminded a cafe themed around One Piece in Little Tokyo, said the project has been “years in the making.”
Official TMNT restaurant opens in Los Angeles
As reported by the Santa Monica Daily Press, the joint sells classic New York-style pizzas in a restaurant plastered with TMNT memorabilia and merch for sale. Then, there is also a bar that serves alcoholic drinks on weekends.
The space itself is heavily inspired by the comics and early cartoons, with architecture that resembles their sewer home, fake ooze spilling from the walls, and neon signs to give it a distinctly New York flavor.
All of the employees are committed to the bit too, as the chefs wear aprons inspired by one of the four main characters. Meanwhile, the floor staff dress as Foot Clan ninjas, the turtles’ main enemy, led by Shredder.

The Los Angeles pizzeria is the first of three planned locations. Paramount plans to open similar restaurants in Monterrey, Mexico, and São Paulo, Brazil, to expand the brand.
This comes after the success of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem brought new life to the franchise and helped introduce Leonardo and co. to a new generation of fans. But if you thought a real pizzeria was unexpected, check out this casket company selling TMNT-themed coffins.
