Jeep is marking the FIFA World Cup with a unique contest: they’re giving away new vehicles to 100 U.S. citizens named George Washington.
Announced on June 10, Jeep’s new “All in on America” campaign promises that if the US team wins the tournament, the first 100 eligible people legally named George Washington who register for the promotion will receive a 2026 Jeep Wrangler.
The campaign arrives as soccer interest continues to grow in the United States, with Jeep tying the promotion to the country’s first president as part of what it calls a patriotic celebration of America’s participation on the global stage.
Jeep launches wild new giveaway but with a massive catch
Jeep says that anyone in the US legally named George Washington can sign up on their website now through the end of the tournament.
The first 100 people who sign up will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a brand new 2026 Jeep Wrangler. If the US team wins the tournament, all winners will receive a Jeep. This giveaway is being promoted with a new ad campaign featuring comedian Iliza Shlesinger, who playfully acts as Jeep’s “Chief Soccer Officer.”
Jeep hasn’t shared exactly how many people in the US are legally named George Washington, but census data indicates the number is approximately 350.
Yahoo Sports estimates the United States has a very low chance – just a 50-1 shot – of winning the World Cup.
“As the world turns its eyes to soccer this summer and America competes on the global stage, we’re celebrating it the Jeep way—patriotically, playfully, and with a nod to the name that shaped a nation,” said Olivier François, Global Chief Marketing Officer, Stellantis.
“As America’s most patriotic brand, tying America’s victory to the country’s founding father and original trailblazer gives 100 of our fans another unexpected reason to cheer.”
In the commercial, Shlesinger delivers a speech from behind a desk beneath a portrait depicting George Washington riding in a Jeep Wrangler.
Shlesinger expressed a desire to witness a joyful, widespread celebration of American success, imagining a scenario where a victory would be marked by people enthusiastically embracing their patriotism – perhaps even driving around in new Jeeps – as a fun and lively display of national pride.
“The Jeep brand has always represented freedom, adventure, and a little bit of rebellion, so giving George Washingtons across America the chance to get a Jeep Wrangler felt perfectly unhinged in the best possible way.”
Jeep isn’t alone in offering deals related to this summer’s tournament. Airbnb is giving away over 1,300 free tickets to matches with certain bookings in host cities, and Chipotle is running a promotion where soccer fans can get a free entree with the purchase of another when they wear a soccer jersey to participating locations.
