Paramount could be preparing to turn one of TV’s biggest franchises into a video game, with Yellowstone reportedly high on its list of priorities as it looks to expand into the “Sheridanverse.”
Yellowstone, co-created by Taylor Sheridan and John Linson, is a hugely popular TV drama that has become a standout show of the last ten years. It’s also led to several successful spin-off series and gained a massive worldwide following.
People love the show’s memorable characters – both the ones you root for and the ones you love to hate – along with its exciting plots and complex, family-centered storylines. These elements would translate really well into a video game.
Paramount has explored gaming adaptations before, with titles based on franchises like Star Trek and SpongeBob SquarePants. Now, it seems they’re planning something much larger, aiming to create games within the growing world created by Sheridan.
Paramount wants to turn Yellowstone into a game
During an interview with Polygon, Shawn Kittelsen, Head of Creative and Production at Paramount Games Studio, revealed that the company is actively looking toward Yellowstone and its spin-offs as future gaming opportunities.
Kittelsen stated that shows like Yellowstone, Landman, and Tulsa King, along with related projects, are all top priorities for the company.
He went on to stress that Paramount isn’t simply interested in creating games for the sake of capitalizing on recognizable brands, adding that they “are cultural stewards, and these stories, characters, and worlds mean something to the fans who invest so much of their time and money in them. We need to honor that relationship, or we will lose them.”

Kittelsen explained that simply licensing everything possible just to make money wouldn’t work in the long run. People would eventually notice, and it would hinder their potential success. Instead, he believes a more strategic approach – carefully choosing partners and developing games that truly appeal to players – is the key to achieving significant growth.
Currently, Paramount hasn’t made any official announcements about the game – we don’t know its genre, style, or who’s developing it. However, given the world the series is set in, an open-world game similar to Red Dead Redemption would make sense. Alternatively, a story-focused adventure like the Mafia series could really highlight the Dutton family and their struggles.
Right now, this is just guesswork. What we do know is that Paramount is heavily focused on Yellowstone and the connected world of shows created by Taylor Sheridan.
