A cybersecurity attack affected a financial services company, and the personal details of over 123,000 individuals might have been revealed.
I just saw some concerning news – the American Lending Center experienced a data breach. Apparently, over 123,000 people were affected, including around 120 residents of Maine, according to the Maine Attorney General’s office. As someone in crypto, this always makes me extra cautious about where I’m storing my personal information, and it’s a good reminder to stay vigilant.
The financial services company, located in Irvine, California, reported a data breach that took place between July 24th and July 30th, 2025. They discovered the breach on July 27th, 2025.
American Lending Center recently discovered a security breach and launched an investigation. They found that someone gained unauthorized access to their network, installed ransomware, and viewed some files containing personal information, according to a notice from the company.
On April 8, 2026, the company finished reviewing the data involved and started informing those affected on April 28, 2026.
The data breach may have exposed personal information like names, birthdates, and Social Security numbers, though the specific details varied for each person affected. American Lending Center states they’ve strengthened security and added extra protections since the incident.
So, after this data breach, the company is helping those of us affected by giving us identity theft protection through IDX. It includes things like credit monitoring, scanning the web for my personal info that might be exposed, and if my identity *is* stolen, they’ll actually help me recover everything. Plus, they’re offering a million-dollar insurance policy to cover any financial losses, which is a huge relief.
