If you’re planning a movie night with Disney+ this weekend, you’ll have choices from two different types of films, and some of them are particularly relevant right now. Last weekend, Disney+ recommended Send Help, Deadpool & Wolverine, and Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, offering a good variety for viewers.
Viewers had a lot to choose from, with new releases including a major superhero movie, a sci-fi blockbuster, and an original horror film. As of today, Send Help is still very popular on Disney+, ranking as the second most-watched movie worldwide, according to FlixPatrol.
I was checking Disney+’s charts, and it’s interesting that Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace is still hanging in there as the 5th most-watched movie in the US, even a week after it first appeared. That means my recommendations from last week are still pretty relevant, which is cool. But I have a feeling things will change a lot more quickly with this weekend’s new releases – I doubt this list will stay accurate for very long!
The main reason for these recommendations is that two of the projects directly follow up on a recently finished Marvel TV series. That’s why you’ll find two superhero movies on the list. The final pick also fits the action vibe, being a thrilling sci-fi film from a popular franchise.
3. Daredevil (2003)
Let’s start with the 2003 film Daredevil. If you’re feeling disappointed now that season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again has finished on May 5th, this movie is a good choice. Though it doesn’t feature Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, the film still has a pretty solid cast.
Ben Affleck starred as Daredevil, the heroic vigilante of Hell’s Kitchen, before he later became known as Batman. The film also features Jennifer Garner as Elektra, Colin Farrell as Bullseye, Michael Clarke Duncan as the villain Kingpin, Ellen Pompeo (from Grey’s Anatomy) as Karen Page, and Jon Favreau as Foggy Nelson. It’s a dark and realistic crime story filled with memorable characters and exciting action.
2. The Punisher: One Last Kill (2026)
Following up on the story from Daredevil: Born Again season 2, Marvel Studios released The Punisher: One Last Kill on Disney+ this Tuesday, May 12th. This new special presentation from the MCU captures the same emotional intensity that defined Frank Castle’s journey in Jon Bernthal’s The Punisher series on Netflix, particularly his lingering pain over the loss of his family.
What makes this special stand out is that Jon Bernthal not only stars, but also co-wrote the story, allowing him to fully realize his vision for the Punisher. One Last Kill delivers intense and violent scenes, a compelling villain, a powerful performance by Bernthal, and lots of action. It’s become Disney+’s most popular “movie,” topping charts and trending in 81 countries worldwide.
1. Predator: Badlands (2025)
Rounding out our recommendations is Predator: Badlands. Like the other movies on this list available on Disney+, it’s part of a large franchise. It’s also the most financially successful Predator film so far, earning $184.5 million. The story follows Dek, a Predator who’s been cast out and needs to redeem himself, and Elle Fanning plays Thia, an android created by Weyland-Yutani.
This sci-fi thriller is fun to watch, especially seeing how the diverse characters interact. The action is as good as fans have come to expect from the Alien and Predator series. Recently, these franchises have benefited from a creative boost, and Predator: Badlands delivers that, making it a highly entertaining watch on Disney+ this weekend.
