Everyone is eagerly anticipating a Saturday Night Live sketch based on Bravo’s upcoming reality show inspired by the book Hunting Wives. Bravo has approved two new series, and Secrets, Lies, Texas Wives seems to be a reality TV take on the popular streaming drama. According to Bravo, the show is set in the idyllic town of Boerne, Texas, and follows a group of wealthy and glamorous women as they navigate family life, run their properties, and maintain active social lives. However, beneath the surface of this seemingly perfect community lie hidden relationships and secret affairs that threaten to unravel the town’s carefully constructed image. If Bravo can recreate the dramatic, forbidden romance found in the Netflix series, they deserve an award!
Bravo has a history of creating shows based on popular scripted television. The original Real Housewives series, for example, was inspired by the success of Desperate Housewives. When announcing the show in 2006, producer Lauren Zalaznick noted that audiences have always been fascinated by fictionalized portrayals of affluent lifestyles, citing shows like Peyton Place and Desperate Housewives. Real Housewives aimed to capture that same appeal, but with a focus on the real-life drama of its subjects. This new series will follow a similar formula, focusing on the lives of women in Texas.
Alongside the popular Texas-based show, a new spin-off called Vanderpump Rules: Lisa Las Vegas will premiere, documenting Lisa Vanderpump’s efforts to launch a hotel in Las Vegas. Plus, Real Housewives of Rhode Island has been quickly renewed for a second season, thanks to its strong performance as Bravo’s second-highest rated show – only behind Beverly Hills. Time to pop the champagne and celebrate!
