Montreal Canadiens player Nick Suzuki and his wife recently welcomed a baby. However, fans were upset when a television broadcast seemed to use artificial intelligence to create images related to their announcement.
The Montreal Canadiens defeated the Buffalo Sabres 6-2 in an exciting NHL game on Sunday night.
Fans at home were upset after a TV news report appeared to use artificial intelligence to create images of Suzuki, his wife, and their new baby.
Sports network pulls video of hockey player’s family after AI backlash
During the Canadian broadcast of the game on Sportsnet, they showed a segment about Montreal Canadiens captain Nick Suzuki and the recent birth of his baby.
Rogers Sportsnet intended to share a touching moment, but it’s facing criticism after people noticed the photos appearing to feature the Montreal Canadiens player and his family may have been created using artificial intelligence.
I was really disappointed to see what Sportsnet did. Someone pointed out that they had a chance to talk to Nick Suzuki about his family – his mom, wife, and new baby – and instead of being respectful, they used AI to create pictures of them. It honestly felt pretty disrespectful, and a lot of other fans agreed with me.
Hey Sportsnet, why are you using AI-created images of Suzuki and his wife in his interview with FriedgeHNIC?

Many viewers are finding it unsettling that AI is being used to share Kenji Suzuki’s life story, especially considering his mother, Amanda, recently died.
One fan questioned why the stories weren’t using real photos of the Suzuki family, stating there should be no AI-generated images included.
Okay, so there’s no official word on whether AI created this video, but it’s pretty suspicious that Sportsnet took it down from YouTube right after it went live. And they’ve also removed the photos from the article they posted about Suzuki – that definitely makes you wonder, right?
