As a Discord user, I’m super excited about this! Discord and Xbox have teamed up, and now my Nitro subscription includes Xbox Game Pass Starter. It’s a huge win for gamers like me, giving us even more value from Nitro!
The update was announced by both Xbox Wire and Discord on May 11, with the companies also confirming that Xbox Game Pass subscribers will soon receive Discord Nitro perks as part of the collaboration.
Discord is now offering a free starter version of Xbox Game Pass to Nitro subscribers in select regions. This includes access to over 50 games for both PC and consoles, plus 10 hours of cloud gaming.
Discord announced a major update to Nitro, its subscription service. This is the biggest change to Nitro since it began, and Discord wants to transform it from a service just for Discord users into a full-fledged gaming membership with more benefits.
Now, with Discord Nitro, you’ll get a basic version of Xbox Game Pass where it’s offered. And if you’re already an Xbox Game Pass member, you’ll also enjoy perks from Discord Nitro.

Discord Nitro now includes Xbox Game Pass Starter
Discord is now offering a Game Pass Starter benefit for Nitro members, giving them access to a selection of games like Fallout 4, Stardew Valley, DayZ, Deep Rock Galactic, Overcooked 2, and Grounded.
The company also said new titles will continue to be added over time.
Discord now lets you easily launch Xbox Game Pass games directly from within the app. If you see a friend playing a Game Pass game on Discord, you’ll see a “Play” button that lets you jump right in.
Discord announced the update as a step towards offering Nitro benefits outside of just the app.
As a long-time Discord fan, I always understood Nitro as a way to support and improve the platform itself. But it’s really cool to see Discord expanding on that idea – they’re now aiming for Nitro to be a gaming membership that enhances the whole gaming experience, not just Discord. It’s like they want to make everything around gaming better for their members, which is awesome!
Xbox Game Pass subscribers are also getting Discord perks
Xbox announced that Game Pass members who qualify will get extra perks with Discord Nitro starting later in May.
The upcoming perks include:
- 250 Discord Orbs every month
- 1.2x extra Orbs when completing Quests
- Automatically applied Discord Shop discounts
This Game Pass update follows recent price drops from Microsoft: Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is now $23.99 instead of $29.99, and PC Game Pass costs $13.99, down from $16.49.
